Our Approach

The great outdoors has so much more to offer than we may realize.  A good experience learning a new outdoor activity can open the door to a lifetime of enjoyment.  Whether eager to try something new for the first time or an old hand just looking to learn a few new tricks, why not experience that activity under the watchful eye of a licensed guide?  Our mission is teaching and fostering participation in an environment of encouragement.

Our Story

Our founder has almost 15 years of experience hiking, camping, paddling, fishing and hunting in the Adirondacks as well as another 25 years exploring the outdoors in other parts of the country.  From being responsible for young campers as a camp counselor at age 15 to leading groups of outdoor adventurers as an adult, his love for the outdoors is not diminished by the occasional rain cloud or mosquito bite.  Safety and fun are the two top priorities.

Meet Your Guide

Your guide is here to present you with a new adventure, to coach, to teach and to encourage as you achieve more than you thought you could.

Chris Stroud

Guide - Founder

An experienced outdoorsman, Chris first learned his love of the outdoors at summer camp at age 7.  He later went on to participate in coaching roles as a camp counselor with 4H and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

He has been hiking and exploring the outdoors for more than 40 years.

As a guide, he maintains certifications in First-Aid, CPR, and water safety and is licensed in the areas of hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting.  Chris also has a personal interest in renewable energy and built the Arrowwood Lodge himself where overnight guests can choose to stay.  The Lodge is off-grid and  completely solar powered.
